Internal Aluminium Screens & Steel-Look Doors

The look of traditional steel glazing, made in aluminium. Glazed doors, screens and partitions that let light through the house without opening everything up.

Aluminium glazing

Light through the whole house.

Open-plan living is not for everyone. A glazed screen gives you the separation — noise, cooking smells, a door you can close — while daylight from the back of the house still reaches the hallway.

The slim black frames people associate with steel glazing are usually aluminium now. It is lighter, will not rust, costs considerably less than true steel, and can be made to measure for any opening, with glazing bars set out to suit the proportions of the room.

Typical jobs are a screen and double doors between kitchen and living room, a glazed partition closing off a stairwell, or a single steel-look door into a home office.

Options

What we fit inside.

Glazed doors

Single or double doors, with or without side panels and toplights, hinged to open whichever way suits the room.

Fixed screens & partitions

Full-height glazed walls that divide a space without blocking the light.

Glazing bar layouts

Grid, horizontal-only or clear panes. We set the bars out so they line up with door heights and ceilings.

Glass

Toughened or laminated safety glass as standard, with reeded or obscure glass where you want more privacy.

Finish

Black is the classic. Anthracite and any RAL colour are available.

Handles & locks

Lever or pull handles, with locks where a room needs to close off.

In detail

Fitted to the room, not forced into it.

Internal openings in older houses are rarely square or level. We survey the opening, the floor finish and the ceiling height, and allow for them in the frame, so the screen reads as straight even when the walls around it are not.

Where a new opening is being formed — especially in a load-bearing wall — that is a job for your builder and usually a structural engineer. We are happy to work alongside them and confirm the finished opening size we need.

Products & systems

Systems we install.

We are the installer. On internal aluminium screens we survey for, supply and fit systems from Origin — the right one is confirmed for your opening at survey.

Questions

Internal screens: your questions.

Is it steel or aluminium?

Aluminium, finished to look like traditional steel glazing. It is lighter, will not rust and costs far less, with very slim frames.

Is the glass safe?

Yes. All glass in internal doors and low-level screens is toughened or laminated safety glass, as Building Regulations require.

Can you fit a screen into an existing opening?

Usually. Existing door openings and knocked-through walls can both take a screen; we measure and advise on the best layout.

How long does installation take?

Once the screen has been made to measure, most installations take a day.
