Carl Hancock Installations in Cardiff
A lot of Cardiff's housing is Victorian and Edwardian terraces — Canton, Pontcanna, Roath, Cathays, Splott — with bays at the front and narrow gardens at the back. Further out, Whitchurch, Rhiwbina, Llandaff and Cyncoed have interwar and post-war semis and detached houses.
At the back, the common job is a kitchen extension across the width of the terrace or into the side return. Openings are usually three to four and a half metres, which suits a three- or four-panel aluminium bifold or a two- or three-part slider. We work with your builder so the steel and the threshold are set for the door.
At the front, it is bays: replacing old timber or first-generation uPVC with frames that are properly supported, and composite doors in keeping with the street. Parts of Cardiff — including Cathedral Road and Rhiwbina Garden Village — are conservation areas, where Cardiff Council may want to see what you are proposing.
