Interwar semis with two-storey bays, larger detached houses around Derwen Fawr, and the rear extensions that go with them.
Carl Hancock Installations in Sketty
Much of Sketty was built between the wars: rows of semis with two-storey bays, recessed entrances and long gardens, alongside bigger detached houses towards Derwen Fawr and Sketty Green, and later estates around Tycoch and Sketty Park.
On the interwar houses, the bay is the key job. The originals were usually timber, many were replaced with uPVC decades ago, and those replacements do not always have proper support built in. When we survey a Sketty bay, we check what is carrying the wall and roof above before we price the frames.
At the back, the gardens here often have room for a kitchen or family-room extension, which is where aluminium bifold and sliding doors come in. If your extension is still being drawn up, we are happy to talk to your builder while the opening is planned.

Top lights, glazing bars and flush sash profiles can echo the original windows, so the house still sits well among its neighbours.
Recessed porches and side panels on interwar semis often suit a composite door with a matching sidelight.
Room for wide openings at the back — bifolds to open up to the garden, or a slider to keep the view.
