Bridgend grew quickly in the second half of the last century, and much of its housing is on the estates that came with that growth — Brackla, Broadlands, Cefn Glas and around Pencoed. Whether it is the original glazing or a first replacement, a lot of it is now twenty-five years old or more, and it shows: misting units, sticking sashes and doors that no longer lock cleanly.
It is also where we fit a lot of rear extensions and garden-room conversions, with aluminium bifold or sliding doors across the back and matching windows. On a typical estate semi the opening is three to four metres — right for a three- or four-panel bifold or a two-part slider.
