For us, that means attention to the details that keep water out — thresholds, cills, drainage and the seal between frame and wall — and finishes and hardware chosen for coastal conditions. On old stone buildings it also means working with walls that are thick, uneven and rarely square.
Barn conversions and new builds here often call for large aluminium glazing: sliding doors, fixed panes and glazed gables. On cottages it is usually about windows and doors that suit the building — flush sash windows, cottage-style composite doors and careful proportions.
